The Dakota Dyer Foundation contacted West Georgia Weather and Tangent Edge to assist the Floyd County Search Posse (FCSP) with the search effort for Blake Cowart, of Euharlee, missing since April 3rd. On Saturday, April 14th, we performed grid searches in the woods surrounding his riverfront home, as well as combing the banks of the Etowah River. Chris Metcalfe, WGW, spotted a black tennis shoe near the river's edge in a log jam, which resulted in FCSP sending the cadaver canine over for further inspection. The canine hit on the spot four times indicating the possibility of a body in the water. Several hours were spent attempting to break up the log jam utilizing chainsaws, hand tools and wenches. A few days later, a fisherman reported a body downstream in the midst of another log jam accompanied by logs cut by a chainsaw. As of April 23rd, the family reported that the GBI has confirmed the body found is Blake Cowart.
Lance Dyer, www.dakotadyerfoundation.com, is a subject matter expert on synthetic marijuana and he educated our team on the dangers and warning signs of synthetic marijuana users. With the sharp rise of synthetic marijuana sales and use, it is critical for our team to recognize the signs and symptoms for future search and rescue efforts.
