Sorry folks, but the November Tactical Medic Class at Morehouse School of Medicine is canceled. We apologize for the inconvience but the recovery efforts in the city of Austell for the flood will cut into the class. The city of Austell allows us a unique opportunity to interact with the community to produce trauma lanes and scenarios unmatched by any tactical medic course. By no means do we wish to detract from the student's learning environment by not incorporating these valuable learning tools…

Well the slackerness came out. The Sweet H20 ultramarathon was ran by our resident bad ass the "ANT". This run involve several water crossings, one across a relatively strong current that needed a line manned by Met, Chris, Scotty, and Johnny, two trips to the "top of the world", up large embankments and across boulders that would break your ankles and had cut off times along the way. This run was grueling, surprising and punishing. Two folks were sent out for medical treatment from the make shi…

Those of you who do and do not know, Tangent Edge will have a changing of the guard very soon. The old warriors are taking a walk about and new warriors are coming on board. This will help us to remain current with in theatres operations and at the leading edge of tactical medical operations. In the next few months, Tangent Edge will appear to be out of order, even out of service, but rest assured, Tangent Edge is not! Tangent Edge is delivering a host of options to clients which requires a lot…

The City of Austell approved on Monday by unanimous vote to have a mountain bike trail built on the 114 acres of land near the rail yard. SORBA's Paulding Chapter will build the trail with a tentative 5 mile loop scheduled. The trail marks a new chapter for us and we are pleased to be a part of it. We will be conducting free mountain bike first aid clinics for riders starting next month on April 26, 2009. The sponsors for the class is REI Kennesaw, SORBA Paulding Chapter and Tangent Edge. Another class passes through and I can't help but smile at the quality and commitment displayed by the students. This class was no different in their tenactity and physical exertion to complete objectives and stretch the thought of conventional medical wisdom. A large round of applause to the students of Class 309! Stay safe and see you soon!

I would like to say welcome to the members of GTA. This is an incredible group of people with a deep sense of purpose. They were out in the freezing cold the past weekend, tracking downhill, through a creek and up the otherside. The night evolution found those same folk tracking a grain of sand in the dark battling against the elements and finally a return to shelter for a cold beer. The final transition was in a little sleet, alot of cold, miserable rain, hiding from a swamp monkey? That is a s…

One of the prevalent threats to firefighters across the nation is that of an active shooter. Our mindset as members of the fire department and EMS is to allow for the law enforcement to secure the scene while we stage in the cold zone. This has been a long standing template and an acceptable practice by all agencies. However, today's new challenges as well as threats, focus on deviants in our society to select softer targets such as schools, malls and hospitals. The law enforcement community coi…

I talk to alot of fire/EMS folks who are always asking on recommendations for a tactical medic school and of course my natural response is Tangent Edge. With all bias being put aside, there are many tactical medic schools besides Tangent Edge that are quite remarkable. CONTOMS was developed many years ago and was one of the original Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) programs headed by members of Special Forces. CONTOMS is currently NOT up and running due to funding. I expect they'll be up agai…
