2015!

Tangent Edge will be conducting a host of new courses this year as well as bringing on new team members.  The past year was more of a recovery time to reflect and adapt to the changes and needs in the special operations and public safety medical arena.  Be watching for the new updated schedule which will be out soon.

Search and Recovery - Blake Cowart

The Dakota Dyer Foundation contacted West Georgia Weather and Tangent Edge to assist the Floyd County Search Posse (FCSP) with the search effort for Blake Cowart, of Euharlee, missing since April 3rd. On Saturday, April 14th, we performed grid searches in the woods surrounding his riverfront home, as well as combing the banks of the Etowah River. Chris Metcalfe, WGW, spotted a black tennis shoe near the river's edge in a log jam, which resulted in FCSP sending the cadaver canine over…

Congratulations MTAC Class 0413!

We had a solid group of individuals who came prepared! No drill slowed nor deterred the team. They faced swarms of killer ants covering the ground, mosquito-infested woods and the parking deck from Hell. Students moved about the city undetected and built a small fortress for cover. Great job guys!

Acworth Womens Triathlon

Sunday morning was muggy but overcast with temperatures only creeping to the low 80's which seemed to be a great day for the Acworth Women's Triathlon. Tangent Edge provided 4 Mountain Bike Medics to ensure a fast response to over 600 athletes as they swam 400 yards, biked 13 miles and finished up with a 5K run. Our team was prepared for any situation but fortunately only had to treat a couple of minor injuries. Good job guys!

Congratulations Class 0511-Branson and 0511-Atlanta!

WOW! Two M-TAC courses in May!  We had a strong and determined group out of Missouri who braved the flooded and frigid Table Rock Lake, maneuvered through the tourist filled city of Branson to complete assignments without causing disruption.  They set up a forward medical station and assisted the Ozark Militia to protect a U.S. tourist towns infrastructure from 4th and 5th generation warfare.  Great job guys, you are solid!

The next group of students came to Hotlanta from…

Tactical medics role

The tactical medic’s role not only pertains to the battlefield or swat environment, they should be prepared to treat and extract patients in wilderness, swift water, Haz-mat, disaster and wild land fire operations in extreme weather from frigid cold to blistering heat and geographical obstacles.  Tactical considerations should always be in the operator’s mind as soon as they are deployed.  These environments require special attention due to elevated hazardous conditions that require…

FLIR training

Tangent Edge assisted OGA with FLIR training last night.  Operators provided a runner, spotter, videography and medical element.  We put the theory of beating the FLIR to the test - RESULT: unless you can act like, move like, and look like a deer, it's probably not going to happen.  Hey, this is what we do . . . we put equipment to the test and find the kinks, if any, so it can be improved.
